5-Minute Caviar Dip
eat it with chips, or serve it alongside salmon and new potatoes (just like my Swedish grandma).
Here is a super simple dip that’s heavily inspired by a sauce my grandma often makes to serve alongside her cold-smoked salmon and potatoes in the summer. It’s a crème fraiche-based dip, mixed with dill, red onion, mustard, mayo, and of course, caviar. Ideally, I would use a small version of caviar (such as lumpfish, for example), but unfortunately, it’s not as easy (or affordable) to find in the States as it is in Sweden. If you have access to the former, I would highly reccomend using that, but the larger salmon roe works perfectly fine too.
How to make it your own
If caviar isn’t your thing or you can’t find it, it’ll still taste great without it! You can always add extra dill and shallots and make it more of a dill/onion dip.
If you are in Sweden or another country where caviar is more accessible and affordable (talking $6 to 10 per), double the amount and add one whole jar to the sauce, and garnish with a second.
