Classic Swedish Semla with Almond Paste
a cream puff but a million times better, if you ask me
A semla is a super classic Swedish dessert consisting of a cardamom-flavored bun filled with almond paste, whipped cream, and topped with powdered sugar. Typically, they are eaten on Fat Tuesday (also known as Mardi Gras) in March, but we make them starting as early as January. Growing up, my mom would serve them to us in a bowl of milk, but trust me, they’re plenty filling on their own.
