I have many memories of eating panna cotta as a kid, most likely because it’s such an easy dessert to make, but also because panna cotta is strangely popular in Sweden. And so is passion fruit, believe it or not. This one comes together in under 10 minutes, and once you’ve transferred the mixture into the cups, all you have to do is wait for them to set. It’s a great dessert to make ahead or if you’re short on time, and you can easily double or triple the recipe if you’re serving more people.
What if someone you’re hosting (or making it for) doesn’t like passion fruit? The passion fruit is just used on top–not in the actual cream base–so you can serve it with any type of berry, jam, or fruit you’d like. I would go with macerated raspberries or strawberries (depending on the season) as a first choice, but blueberries, cherries, or a rhubarb compote would also be delicious.
